Solihull Ice Rink was built over 30 years ago. It was in the mid 1970’s that
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council handled the operation of the building. In the late 1990’s the Ice Rink was in need of investment and in July 2000 St.Modwen Plc took over Solihull Ice Rink, trading as Leisure living Ltd.

St.Modwen invested in Solihull Ice Rink and built a new cafeteria (Meltdown now known as Ice Burger), inserted new flooring, lights and replaced the internal ceiling etc. In addition, St Modwen built the Meadows Function Suite, two meeting rooms and Checkers Bar adjoining the Ice Rink.

At the front of the Ice Rink three restaurants were developed to include Woks Hall (International Cuisine), Spice Woods (Balti) and Pizza by Goli (Italian). Rileys snooker/pool hall remianed above Solihull Ice Rink. St Modwen also built the Fitness First Health Club on the site where the old hall used to be in the car park.

In mid 2005 the site was marketed as, ’Solihull Ice Rink @ Blue Ice Plaza.’ People can visit the Plaza and enjoy ice skating, dine in one of the restaurants, work out at the Health Club or relax and play snooker/pool. You can also hire the Meadows Function Suite for a private party to celebrate a special occasion.

In late 2005 St Modwen again invested in Solihull Ice Rink by building a brand new Birthday Party Room, Entrance ands Shop. Checkers Bar was refurbished to create a Parents Lounge/Bar. In addition, Woks Hall has extended their restaurant (where the old entrance was at the front of the building).
